My name is Alison Capper, and I am pleased to have moved my practice to The Samye Foundation. I run my clinic on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Lotus Room.

I have 15 years’ experience working with a broad variety of people.

Craniosacral therapy

The beauty of craniosacral therapy for me is its gentle non-intrusive quality that works deeply in the body, helping to untangle and release patterns of tension and restriction that might have roots in both the physical and emotional.

As the client, you lay fully clothed on a treatment couch, usually on your back. Light touch is made at various places on the body, including the feet, legs, spine, face, and head. Each session is unique and often felt as deeply relaxing, while the body, mind, and emotions start to soften and unwind.

Where there has been a build-up over time of symptoms, a course of treatments would be recommended. Craniosacral therapy, alongside releasing tension, works with building up the health and vitality in the body, helping us to feel more embodied and present in ourselves.

TMW - a 16 movement sequence, is a distillation of both Tai Chi and Qigong that is easy to learn and then if practiced regularly has many health benefits.

Sheena is a professionally qualified Yoga Teacher [375 hours] certified by Meni Farkash at the Agniyaana Yoga School, Carmarthenshire [A training centre registered with Yoga Alliance Professionals].

Somatic yoga helps to develop mind-body awareness and greater connection to yourself and how you move in the world around you, allowing time to explore asanas, breath, movement and expand strength and stability. Sheena uses adaptations to help individuals access Yoga postures for all ages and abilities. All are very welcome to join whatever your experience of Yoga.

I have been practicing Shiatsu for 10 years and I am a fully insured member of the Shiatsu Society UK. I work in private practice, in workplaces, care homes, mental health charities, NHS, and in various community settings as well as teaching a foundation and 5 element course. The foundation course is an introduction to the essence of Shiatsu. Students learn a full body sequence to practice on family and friends, self, and energy awareness development.

Shiatsu originates from traditional Japanese bodywork, draws on Chinese medicine and 5 element theory to inform the practice and uses different types of touch to contact the body. The client is always fully clothed and lies on a futon on the floor. Meridian massage, acupressure points, stretches and manipulations, holding and rocking are used to encourage the flow of energy in the body. Shiatsu can be deeply relaxing and challenging, nourishing and dynamic. It's an individual experience depending on what you need in the moment. Treatments are tailored to your needs so whether you have pain or discomfort in your body, feel exhausted, struggle with anxiety or depression, want more awareness of your body and emotions, or need support in your life, we can work together to help you. Shiatsu can help to reduce the stress that builds up and can give a sense of greater well-being.

Sessions last for an hour or an hour and a half.
