Learn how to remain calm, grounded and focused throughout your life.
Our Mindfulness course is run over 8 weekly sessions where you will be supplied with notes and MP3s so that you can practise on the days in between classes. Through practice, you will begin to notice how distracted your mind is and how this can lead to anxiety and stress.
"Mindfulness is being in the moment, knowing what is happening in the moment, both in our own minds and around us, no matter what it is." Rob Nairn
You will become calmer, grounded and more focused as you create the habit of bringing your attention back to being in the present moment. Also you will learn why you get anxious or stressed, hear what the neuroscientists say about mindfulness and the positive effects it has on our brain when we practice it regularly. You will also learn about different applications of mindfulness. Alexander Technique classes and workshops

with Anna Brazier
Anna Brazier

Do you take for granted how you do things? Would you like to find more Freedom and Ease in your Movement?

I am delighted to be offering Alexander Technique classes and workshops at the SAMYE Centre.

The Alexander Technique is a great way to explore thinking about how you move and discovering new possibilities.

I started learning the technique about twenty years ago. I found it intriguing and exciting, so much so that while still working in the NHS, I joined Don Weed's training course and became a teacher in 2012. I now combine an arts practice with freelance Alexander teaching and am looking forward to establishing some regular sessions at the SAMYE Centre.

If you are curious about the technique, please visit my website at movementinmind.org for more information, costs, and availability. You can also email me from the website.

If you would like to get involved and be part of the classes, please get in touch, and I can plan schedules to suit you. My next workshop is planned for the

1st November 2025

I look forward to hearing from you!

A WEEKEND COURSE WITH LAMA ZANGMO
Ways to Support and Nurture your Practice of Mind Training

25 & 26 JULY
LamaZangmo (1)

&nbsp

Mind training is relevant for modern times. We do not need to go to an isolated cave or retreat to practice it; we can engage in it while doing all the thousands of other daily activities we do every day.
This weekend Lama Zangmo will give guidance and instructions to support the practice of mind training, suitable for all. There will be time for meditation and questions & answers each day.

ABOUT LAMA ZANGMO
Lama Gelongma Zangmo first became a practising Buddhist when she arrived at Kagyu Samye Ling in 1977 and took refuge with His Holiness the 16th Karmapa, Rangiung Rigpe Dorje. Having received teachings from many highly respected lamas who visited Kagyu Samye Ling, she was inspired to enter the four-year closed retreat in 1984, during which time she became ordained as a Buddhist nun.
When the next long retreat started in 1989 Lama Zangmo wished to further her retreat experience and she was also asked to help and advise the new retreatants. Having completed that retreat in 1993, Lama Zangmo then entered a third long retreat and became the resident retreat teacher to the other women retreatants. That retreat ended in 1997, bringing the total number of years Lama Zangmo spent in retreat to eleven and a half.
Choje Akong Tulku Rinpoche and Lama Yeshe Losal Rinpoche then asked Lama Zangmo to put her experience to good use by helping to run Kagyu Samye Dzong London, which was officially opened in 1998. Since then the London Centre has flourished under Lama Zangmo's guidance and established itself as a much needed Dharma Centre in the capital city, providing a full and varied programme of teachings and events throughout the year.
In 1998 Lama Zangmo was one of a group of nuns who accompanied Lama Yeshe Losal Rinpoche to India, where she became fully ordained as a Gelongma (Bhikkuni) at a historic ceremony in Bodhgaya. This will in turn enable others to take full Gelongma ordination with the Tibetan Buddhist tradition in the future.
Lama Zangmo's strong connection with Kagyu lineage and in particular with Choje Akong Tulku Rinpoche and Lama Yeshe Losal Rinpoche has inspired her to work tirelessly and joyfully in service to the Dharma and helping others. In recognition of her long experience, selfless qualities and commitment, she became the first person in the UK to be honoured with the title of Lama by our organisation at a heart-warming ceremony in Kagyu Samye Dzong London June 2001.
