Our Mindfulness Trainers
Anthony:
Anthony has been practising meditation since 1975 and received his mindfulness teacher training certificate in 2009 from the Mindfulness Association at Samye College which is part of the Kagyu Samye Ling Monastery in Scotland and completed his training in Compassion Based Mindfulness Training on Holy Island in June 2009.
Anthony is one of the mindfulness trainers at the Samye Foundation Wales Mindfulness and Wellbeing Centre and runs the 8 week Mindfulness course and the 8 month mindfulness course, as well as individual mindfulness sessions. He is a qualified core process psychotherapist and trained at the Karuna Institute, Devon.
Anthony has been delivering Mindfulness training to individuals, as well as to a local hospital for the past five years. He is also a member of the Mindfulness Association.
Anthony has been very fortunate to be associated with the Samye Ling Monastery in Scotland and has received teachings over the years from Rob Nairn who is the lead Samye Ling Tutor in Mindfulness Training and author of many books on mindfulness (see mindfulness.resources), Dr Akong Tulku Rinpoche, and Lama Yeshe Losal Rinpoche, Chairman of Rokpa Trust, Abbot and Retreat Master of Kagyu Samye Ling, Executive Director of The Holy Isle Project.
Anthony has completed numerous meditation and mindfulness retreats : 1 x month, 2 weeks and 3 weeks in duration. takes weekly meditation classes at the centre for beginners and for advanced meditators.
Sue has been practising meditation since 1991 and received her mindfulness teacher training certificate from the Mindfulness Association at Samye College which is part of the Kagu Samye Ling Monastery in Scotland. She also undertook the Compassion Based Mindfulness training at Samye Ling in 2009.
Sue is a Chartered Psychologist and, until recently, worked for over 20 years in corporate settings (private, public and third sector) as an organisational development management consultant. She has recently reduced her role in that arena in order to concentrate more on her other role as a mindfulness teacher, core process psychotherapist and psychotherapy supervisor. She has been trained to deliver the Introduction to Core Process Psychotherapy with Maura Sills, Director, Karuna Institute. Completion of this week-end course now enables people to enter the Karuna trainings including the MA, psychotherapeutic counselling and the PQMA. Sue is a member of the Mindfulness Association.
Sue has delivered a number of continuing professional development (CPD) events on mindfulness for counsellors, psychotherapists and supervisors at Samye Foundation Wales, Caerphilly as well as closer to her home in Pembrokeshire. Sue has completed numerous retreats, for example, a 1-week silent retreat, 2-3 days silent retreats and teaching retreats lead by Rob Nairn in Cardiff and Scotland.
In the future, in addition to her one-to-one and group work, Sue would like to help organisations to integrate the benefits of mindfulness with particular emphasis on leadership and the quality of decision making.
Lorraine:
Lorraine has been practising meditation since 1979 and received her mindfulness teacher training certificate in 2009 from The Mindfulness Association at Samye College which is part of the Kagyu Samye Ling Monastery in Scotland.
She completed her year’s training in Compassion Based Mindfuness with the Mindfulness Association and this concluded with a 7 day retreat led by Rob Nairn and other Mindfulness Association trainers on Holy Island during the month of June 2009. Lorraine received mindfulness teacher training skills throughout the year’s course and has also achieved her Post Graduate Certificate in Education at the University of Wales Institute Cardiff (UWIC) in 2011. Her subject specialism for the PGCE was mindfulness.
Lorraine has been delivering Mindfulness training to individuals, university students, local businesses, charitable organisations, foster carers, private and public sector organisations for the past three years. GPs are currently referring patients to Lorraine for one-to-one mindfulness to help deal with stress, anxiety and depression. She is also a member of the Mindfulness Association. She also attends regular mindfulness courses run by the Mindfulness Association.

Bethan Roberts:

Bethan has been teaching Mindfulness for 3 years and practising mediation for 10 years and yoga for almost 30 years. She has taught several 8-week ‘Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction’ courses in Cardiff and co-taught an 8-week course at Bangor University for the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice (CMRP). She also offers a two-day ‘Introduction to Mindfulness’ course, and teaches Mindfulness on a one-to-one basis to distance learners.
In addition to completing Teacher Training Retreats (both Level 1 and Level 2) run by Bangor University’s CMRP, Bethan has also benefited from a Mindfulness teacher training 9-day ‘practicum’ in the US at the Centre for Mindfulness (established by Jon Kabat-Zinn) at the University of Massachusetts.
To support this work, Bethan has monthly supervision from one of the Directors at the CMRP at Bangor University and regularly goes on meditation retreats.
Bethan is also a Welsh Government Approved Mental Health First Aid Instructor as well as an Equalities trainer and consultant. She is also an Employment Tribunal Lay Member. Her academic qualifications include BA(hons) Economics, MSc Health Economics, MA Women’s Studies and MSc Equality and Diversity. She has been part of Samye Foundation Wales since 2003. She is also a native Welsh speaker.
Vin Harris:
Vin is in demand as a mindfulness consultant and uses his extensive business experience to talk about the application of mindfulness in the workplace for a wide range of organisations and individuals. As a successful entrepreneur, Vin is able to share his passion and enthusiasm for business and to show that it is possible to use the challenges of entrepreneurial activity not only as a way of making money but also as a vehicle for personal growth and fulfilment. Vin is a long-term supporter of Samye Ling as well as a member of the Mindfulness Assocation.
Throughout his business career, Vin has always practiced meditation and attributes many of the outer achievements to his ability to work skilfully with the inner environment. Vin says “Mindfulness meditation is certainly not a means of escaping from the world. It has helped me to maintain clarity of vision, remain calm under pressure and to find creative solutions to the many business and interpersonal problems that inevitably arise for everyone.”
