We are proud to have received funding from the Community Economic Development programme to deliver innovative corporate mindfulness training to businesses operating in Caerphilly County Borough. Mindfulness has been clinically proven to reduce stress and anxiety in the workplace and is an effective stress management tool for organisations.

Lorraine Harris – Chief Executive and Project Manager

 

Lorraine HarrisLorraine is responsible for the delivery and management of the corporate mindfulness training programme for businesses operating in Caerphilly County Borough.  She is a long-time practitioner of meditation and a qualified mindfulness instructor whose corporate clients include Tiai Esgyn Housing Swansea, Whitbread, Caer health, Gwent Probation Services, a leading financial services company, Foster Care Associates and Velindre Hospital. With a background in banking, accounts, supervision, IT consultancy, office administration and events management, she understands the daily stresses that organisations are facing today with the current economic climate. She has worked in varied and busy environments such as part of the project implementation team  in the banking industry, with it’s head office in Sheffield, managed the accounts for an asphalting company and worked as a registrar at Bereavement Services, Cardiff Council. She organised many conferences and events for The National Association of Valuers and Auctioneers (NAVA) as well as edited their quarterly magazine. She also holds a BSC (Hons) Computing from Glamorgan University, a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from University of Wales Institute Cardiff and a Mindfulness Instructor certificate from the Mindfulness Association and is a member of the Chartered Management Institute. She recently completed a leadership programme with LEAD Wales with Swansea and Lancaster University. In her spare time, Lorraine is a trustee of MENFA in Cardiff Bay.

  • One Year Certificate in Leadership Skills with LEAD Wales, University of Swansea and University of Lancaster. 2012

  • One Year Mindfulness Training with Prof Rob Nairn & The Mindfulness Association (2008/2009)
  • Post Graduate Cert Education (specialising in Mindfulness) with University of Wales Institute Cardiff (Cardiff Metropolitan University) (2012)
  • A one-year Compassion Training course run by the Mindfulness Association.(2012)
  • Support teacher for the one Year Compassion Training (2012/2013)

Karen Higginbottom Karen Higginbottom - Business Development and Sales Manager 

Karen is responsible for developing marketing and communication plans for the CED project as well as generating income through e-commerce products aimed at corporate clients. She is a freelance journalist with 12 years’ experience of writing on HR and employment topics for Nationals such as the Guardian, Independent and Thomson Reuters. Her previous role was as a senior reporter for People Management magazine, where she wrote news and analysis on employment topics. She was shortlisted for Magazine Journalist of the Year by the Work Foundation in 2003.  She has also worked as a media consultant for NGOs in both Sri Lanka and the UK.  In Sri Lanka, she developed and wrote the first annual report of the organisation’s activities which dealt with post-tsunami recovery. She has also run communication workshops for the Gaia Foundation in the UK.

Karen Davey – Administrator

Karen Davey is the administrator responsible for providing full administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the corporate mindfulness training project for businesses operating in Caerphilly. She has worked as an administrator for Leadbitter Construction and worked in a variety of customer service/retail positions.  Karen has completed a NVQ level 3 in administration and a course in computerised accounts with Howells Training. She is a qualified First Aider.
